More than 150,000 tons of quarry material, ranging from rip rap to select structural fill, was sent out to this environmental remediation project located on the Hudson River waterfront. As part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Superfund Program, the cleanup, which required extensive on- and off-site testing of delivered material to ensure the highest quality, took two years to complete.

With both a demanding time schedule and terrain, we worked with on-site contractors to deliver the highest quality material and provide extensive mobile crushing and screening services. Since ground broke on this $103 million project in July 2009, safety and professional integrity was of utmost importance, with all ConAg Placement Services employees on-site attending a Munitions and Explosive of Concern (MEC) training.
In need a specific product to meet New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requirements, this large-scale remediation project was indeed multi-dimensional. At our Salisbury Mills location, we screened overburden material to match the river backfill being dredged from the Hudson River. The material was then delivered and put to use in the river.
